Instructions For Making Roman Shades
By qwcdirect | May 30, 2010
Making your own Roman shade is an easy to do task requiring the user to follow the instructions. First of all you need to collect the materials needed. These include a piece of wood of size 1×1 to fit across the inside top of the window, screws to fix the wood to the window frame, the lining material and fabric from light or decorator weight material.
The next step is to cut the fabrics according to the size of the window in both height and width but remember to consider the seam allowance. Pin them together with the right side facing and sew around the perimeter but leave an opening for turning. After turning, iron them flat and slip stitch them. Measure and marks the positions of the pleats then attach all battens using glue let it dry. Add plastic lops and tie cords on them. Attach the top to the shade and thread the pull cord through the eye ball.
