Caulking Tips And Techniques When Painting Exteriors

    By qwcdirect | April 16, 2010

Majority of homeowners are ignorant of caulking which is the most vital technique that is used to apply when painting the house for the second or third time either interior or exterior part of the house. Today, most of the houses are built in such speed without fine craftsmanship. This technique however hides the mistakes of the carpenter before painting is carried out. When the correct procedures are used, modern caulking is improvised whereby silicon compounds are used with range of colors ranging from black to white and finally the clear to come up with waterproof qualities.

When applying, cut off the tube of the caulking to a certain angle without cutting off the tip. Put the amount of caulk that is needed to fill the required gap. Using a dump rag, wet your fingers to remove the excessive caulk and smoothen the line of the caulk and allow it to dry. Add more where necessary.
